Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules governing how you may use Rantera's models, APIs, platform, and associated services (collectively, the "Services"). This AUP forms part of Rantera's Terms of Service. By using the Services, you agree to comply with this policy.

Rantera builds AI infrastructure to serve Africa and the world. We rely on users acting responsibly to protect the integrity of our platform and the communities it serves.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the Services to:

• Build and deploy products and applications that add genuine value to users
• Access and call Rantera's models via the API for lawful commercial or personal purposes
• Integrate Rantera's capabilities into your own software under the terms of your agreement with Rantera
• Conduct research, testing, and evaluation of AI capabilities for legitimate purposes
• Generate content, summaries, translations, and other outputs for lawful use cases

3. Prohibited Use

You must not use the Services to:

Harmful or illegal content

• Generate, distribute, or facilitate content that is illegal under applicable law
• Create, share, or promote child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that sexually exploits minors
• Generate content that incites or facilitates violence, terrorism, or serious harm against any person or group
• Produce content that defames, harasses, or threatens specific individuals

Deception and manipulation

• Generate disinformation, fake news, or synthetic media designed to deceive the public
• Impersonate real individuals, organisations, or entities in a misleading or harmful way
• Create deepfakes or synthetic audio/visual content of real people without their consent
• Use the Services to manipulate elections, public opinion, or democratic processes

Security and infrastructure

• Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract weights from, or replicate Rantera's proprietary models
• Use the Services to develop cyberweapons, malware, or tools designed to cause harm
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of Rantera's systems without prior written authorisation
• Circumvent or attempt to bypass rate limits, access controls, or authentication mechanisms
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services

Privacy and data

• Process personal data of third parties through the Services without a lawful basis
• Use the Services to profile, track, or surveil individuals without their knowledge or consent
• Collect or harvest personal information from other users of the Services

Platform integrity

• Resell or sublicense access to the Services without Rantera's prior written consent
• Use automated means to access the Services in a manner that exceeds reasonable use or degrades performance for others
• Use the Services to train or fine-tune competing AI models without express written permission from Rantera

4. Developer and API Obligations

If you access the Services via the API, you are responsible for ensuring that your application and its end users comply with this AUP. You must:

• Implement reasonable safeguards to prevent misuse of AI-generated outputs by your users
• Not expose the raw API to untrusted users without appropriate controls
• Include clear disclosure in your product that it is powered by AI where required by applicable law or platform guidelines
• Promptly investigate and address any reported misuse of your integration

5. Content and Output Responsibility

Outputs generated by Rantera's models are not endorsed by Rantera. You are solely responsible for how you use, display, and distribute model outputs. Rantera's models may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate outputs. You must not rely on outputs for high-stakes decisions — including medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical situations — without independent verification by a qualified professional.

6. Enforcement

Rantera reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to investigate any suspected violation of this AUP. If we determine that a violation has occurred, we may:

• Issue a warning
• Suspend or terminate your account and API access
• Remove or restrict access to content or outputs
• Report the violation to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities

We will not provide refunds for any unused credits or fees paid in relation to an account suspended or terminated for AUP violations.

7. Reporting Violations

If you become aware of any use of the Services that violates this AUP, please report it to us at legal@rantera.ai. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Services after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
